Institute of Construction and Architecture, Slovak Academy of Sciences

In 1942, the Parliament of the Slovak Republic instituted the Slovak Academy of Sciences and Arts (SAVU). Ever since its founding it was framed as a representative and, concomitantly, a working scholarly institution. During the post-World War II period, SAVU transformed itself into the Slovak Academy of Sciences.
The internal structure of the Slovak Academy of Sciences comprises 3 sections:
• Physical Sciences
• Life Sciences
• Social Sciences
These areas of expertise house a number of institutes.  The Institute of Construction and Architecture was established and made permanent in 1953 in order to carry out fundamental and
applied research and new developments in the field of civil engineering and architecture.
